At Gifokamp, we are committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information when you use our web application, our Android application, and our browser extension, the Gifokamp: AI Language Clipper.

Information We Collect

  • Google Authentication Information: To create and secure your account, we use Google Authentication. This provides us with your name, email address, and profile picture, which are linked to your account. We handle authentication credentials (OAuth tokens) to verify your session and protect your data.
  • Website Content for Translation: When you use the AI Language Clipper to translate text, we collect the word or phrase you selected and the surrounding sentence. This data is essential for providing an accurate, context-aware translation.
  • User-Generated Content: When you save a translation using the Clipper, we store the original text, the translated text, and the source sentence in your personal Gifokamp account, associated with your user ID. This is the core of your personal vocabulary library.
  • Usage Data & User Activity: We collect information about how you interact with our app and extension. This includes features you use, text selections that trigger a translation, and extension settings (like preferred theme and voice). For the extension, we may also cache generated Text-to-Speech (TTS) audio files locally on your device to provide a faster, seamless experience.
  • Device Information: We may collect certain information about your device, including device type and operating system, for optimization and troubleshooting purposes.

How We Use Your Information

  • To Provide Core Functionality: Your authentication information secures your account. The website content you select is used solely to generate a translation. The user-generated content (saved pairs) is stored so you can build your library and use our learning tools like SRS and the AI Pronunciation Coach.
  • Analytics & Improvement: We analyze anonymized usage data and user activity to understand usage patterns, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the app's functionality and performance.
  • Communication: We may use your contact information to send you important updates, notifications, and announcements related to the Gifokamp ecosystem.

Data Security

  • We implement appropriate security measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is stored securely using Firebase's backend services.
  • However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Third-Party Services

Gifokamp integrates with trusted third-party services to provide its features. These include:
- Firebase: For backend services, including Google Authentication, database (Firestore), and storage.
- Google's Gemini AI: For processing and translating the text you select.
- Google reCAPTCHA v3: For security purposes to prevent abuse.
These services collect and use information in accordance with their respective privacy policies. Please note that our site uses cookies.

Data Usage Compliance

In compliance with the Chrome Web Store's policies, we certify that:

  • We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside of approved use cases (such as sending text to Gemini AI for translation).
  • We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the item's single purpose of language learning.
  • We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Data Deletion

Account and data deletion is a self-service process handled directly within the Gifokamp application. To permanently delete your account and all associated data, you must use the "Delete Account" function found within your account settings. This is the sole method for account deletion.

This action automatically schedules the permanent deletion of all your data (including account information and user-generated content) from our systems within 30 days. This policy is in place for your security and to prevent abuse of our services. We do not process standard deletion requests via email.

Updates to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this policy periodically for any updates. We will also notify you by email of any significant changes to this policy.
